I went solo interrailing through Europe for the first time this summer, although this is a separate story.⁠
⁠
For a few days, I was just going. Going and going. But when my train entered Interlaken, it suddenly felt different. Like I finally arrived. Like I wanted to stay. ⁠
⁠
So I stayed, in Balmer’s for a few days. I (sometimes) fall in love with places and this time it was a red hostel in the middle of the Swiss Alps. Something was telling me it was where I wanted to go, and it was right, it was where I wanted to be. ⁠
⁠
Meeting many amazing, creative, and talented people. Going out of my room to brush my teeth and heard the sounds of (incredible!) piano playing downstairs. People jamming on guitar in the common room or outside. Having conversations on a bench in the evening, in the middle of the Swiss Alps. Talking without rest the whole hike up and back down. I loved it to my core.⁠
⁠
One time I was just standing, fully immersed in the sounds of the instruments. And during that moment, I felt satisfied, for it felt like the whole journey would have been worth it just for that.⁠
⁠
After 5 days, it was time to go. As the journey had to continue. But during those 5 days, I felt at home. There was a special feeling to Balmer’s that wasn’t to be found in any other place. And I understood then, it was the feeling I wanted to seek.⁠

An (overwhelming) love for life.⁠

Fiz um interrail solo pela Europa pela primeira vez neste verão, embora esta seja uma história separada.⁠
⁠
Por alguns dias, eu estava apenas indo. Indo e indo. Mas quando meu trem entrou em Interlaken, de repente me senti diferente. Como se eu finalmente tivesse chegado. Como se eu quisesse ficar. ⁠
⁠
Então fiquei na casa de Balmer por alguns dias. Eu (às vezes) me apaixono por lugares e dessa vez foi um hostel vermelho no meio dos Alpes Suíços. Algo me dizia que era para onde eu queria ir, e estava certo, era onde eu queria estar. ⁠
⁠
Conhecer muitas pessoas incríveis, criativas e talentosas. Saí do quarto para escovar os dentes e ouvi sons (incríveis!) de piano tocando lá embaixo. Pessoas tocando violão na sala comum ou fora dela. Conversando num banco à noite, no meio dos Alpes Suíços. Conversando sem descanso durante toda a caminhada de ida e volta. Eu adorei profundamente.⁠

Uma vez eu estava parado, totalmente imerso nos sons dos instrumentos. E naquele momento me senti satisfeito, pois parecia que toda a jornada teria valido a pena só por isso.⁠
⁠
Depois de 5 dias, era hora de ir. Como a viagem teve que continuar. Mas durante esses 5 dias, me senti em casa. Havia um sentimento especial em Balmer que não se encontrava em nenhum outro lugar. E eu entendi então, era o sentimento que eu queria buscar.⁠

After the last snowfall, Lake Brienz experienced unique conditions. Thin vapor clouds hovered over the lake, blown along by the prevailing wind. Guests on the morning tour were lucky to catch the moment when the sun came over the ridge and illuminated the clouds.⁠
