The Jungfrau Region offers incredible scenery full of greenery, glaciers, high mountains, romantic villages, and many tourist attractions.

Here are places in the Jungfrau Region that you need to visit:

Selwald

Iseltwald is a pretty village on the shores of Lake Brienz. You will find pictures of it a lot on Instagram. This small village is so photogenic! The most famous photo is of Seeburg Castle, which is a castle on a peninsula. This village is a small bubble of relaxation by the lake. Life seems to flow out of time, on the shores of a hypnotic turquoise-blue lake. Add to that a steamboat gently gliding towards the small port of the village and the picture is just perfect.

Cachoeira Giessbach

It is actually 14 waterfalls that bounce off the rock for almost 500 meters. Jungfraujoch

  • Ice Palace: ice tunnels dug into the glacier, dotted with ice sculptures.
  • Alpine Sensation: through various rooms, you discover the history of the people who climbed and developed the site.
  • Glacier Plateau: just below the Sphinx, here you have snow 365 days a year
  • Go to Lindt (yes, it's cliché, but it's chocolate, how can you resist?)
  • Getting to the Mönchsjochhütter in 45 minutes on foot

Kleine Scheidegg

In the beginning, you follow the glacier, then you pass in front of the small chalet “Mittellegi”, before arriving at a very photogenic small lake (Fallbodensee). A few more efforts on an easy path (good shoes recommended) and here you are at Kleine Scheidegg. Either you take advantage of the places and the Belle Époque atmosphere, or you take the train directly back down to Grindelwald. Beneath its gleaming look, the WengernalpBahn is quite simply the longest continuous cogwheel train… in the world.

Officially, the hike is 2.5 km long and takes around 1 hour, with an elevation gain of 260 m. But it can last longer if you want to take pictures, and enjoy the panorama.

Grindewald

Grindelwald jungfrau regionThe village is a resort facing the Eiger, located in the Swiss Alps, more precisely in the Bernese Oberland, Jungfrau region.

Grindewald is known as a picture-postcard mountainous place, as it is mainly characterized by breathtaking mountainous and alpine scenery. So much so that it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site and is considered one of the most romantic and fascinating valleys in all of Switzerland, increasingly appreciated and preferred by many tourists and hikers from all over the world.

First -Bachalpsee

With luck, you may even observe marmots lounging on stone blocks during your climb. It's so cool! Once at the top, the panorama of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau is breathtaking.

In fact, Männlichen is really THE place to enjoy the grandiose views:

  • Eiger, Monch, Jungfrau
  • Grindelwald Valley
  • Lauterbrunnen Valley (you can even see the Staubbach waterfall)

Wengen

Wengen is the starting point for 500 km of hiking trails and 100 km of ski slopes. Located at the foot of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau, it is completely car-free. 6 ski lifts and 10 chair lifts take visitors up the mountain in the Kleine Scheidegg/Männlichen-Grindelwald/Wengen ski area.

Schynige Platte

Schilthorn - Piz Gloria - Birg Thrill Walk

You can spend a full day there. If you are athletic and a motivated hiker, you can try the hike up on foot. Otherwise, you can take the gondola /ski lifts and early departure from the Schilthornbahn station. Throughout the climb, you enjoy spectacular views, especially of the Mürrenbach waterfall (417 m.). With a bit of luck, you can even see chamois! The full ascent requires 2 changes, which allows you to visit the intermediate stations if you wish.

  • Piz Gloria: the 360-degree panorama is pretty crazy! Front row seats: Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The opportunity here to finally learn who is who and to observe them “face to face”. On a clear day, the view extends to the Jura and even allows you to see a part of Mont-Blanc 110 km away! Come early in the morning, it will be so calm. The 2 key attractions of Piz Gloria (outside the panorama) are the various James Bond points and the revolving restaurant where you can have your brunch.

Murren

Murren jungfrau regionMurren é um pretty car-free village, cute, very typical, and rustic, located at 1,638 m in the Jungfrau region. The village is also well known for the waterfall of the same name: the Mürrenbachfall, 417 meters!

You have to start the visit by strolling through the village and in particular on the main street with its many bistros and the Eiger in the background. You are immediately charmed by the beautiful rustic chalets, with lots of very photogenic little details.
