Visiting Interlaken

Like many travelers, you might travel to Interlaken for only a couple of days while doing a big Europe tour. And of course, you want to make the most of your stay in each place.

Three days are not much, but you can also do a lot if you are well organized and prepared, so here are our tips to enjoy your journey in Interlaken.

We have created two different itineraries so just pick the one that suits you the best...

3 days in Interlaken, what to do?

The "not to miss" itinerary

On the day of your arrival: spend the rest of the day around Interlaken.

Just take a walk around the city and enjoy the view of the surroundings. Let yourself be impregnated by the beauty of the place. The small streets of the old towns are worth a visit, and why not stop at Höhematte Park to see the paraglider's landing field? If you arrive early, you can also visit Mais difícil Kulmby funicular.

First day: Jungfraujoch

Depending on the weather, we would suggest you visit Jungfraujoch, and why not discover some villages like Wengen e Grindewald on the way?

To go to Jungfrau, a good advice will be to take the train as early as you can to be able to enjoy a full day of visits. On your way to the top, we suggest you hop off the train to visit Wengen. Walk through the village to take the Mannlichenbahn lift to Mannlichen. The walk from Mannlichen down to Kleine Scheidegg is one of the prettiest in the region. It's easy and the views are great. It takes around an hour depending on how long you take to admire the surroundings.

Once you arrive at Kleine Scheidegg, you can take the Jungfraubahn train to the top of Europe, the Jungfraujoch!! On your way down, take the Wengernalp train to Grindelwald for a change of scenery and take the time to wander around Grindelwald. When you are done, the train will take you back to Interlaken.

Second day: Lake Brienz

Take a cruise on Lake Brienzand discover the villages around the lake.
The lakeside villages are picturesque and deserve a nice day trip to enjoy. The village of Brienz itself has a lovely easy walk along the lakeside which parallels the road through the village.

If you are hungry, there's a Coop and a Migros supermarket where you can find everything to make yourself a great lunch to eat along the lake.

Third and last day:Lauterbrunnen,Mürren andSchilthorn

From Interlaken take the train to Lauterbrunnen and then take the cable car to Grutschalp. Once you arrive there, walk along a wonderful flat wide scenic "shelf" to Mürren, a car-free village with lovely views of the Jungfrau.

From Mürren, you can get to the Schilthorn by cableway, and on your way back to Interlaken, stop to visit the trümmelbach waterfalls.

Just remember to check the webcams for the weather each day before leaving for Jungfrau or Schilthorn.

The "sport & adrenaline" itinerary

On the day of your arrival: Rent a bike and go around Interlaken

Once you have checked in to your favorite hostel, Balmers hostel, check our website or go to the reception to have more information about all the crazy atividades you can do around Interlaken and to book your journey for the next few days.

When all your bookings are done, grab a bike and go explore this amazing city. If you arrive early enough, The Mais difícil Kulm is probably one of the easiest accessible points of view to admire Thunersee and Brienzersee at the same time as the Jungfrau, the Mönch, and Eiger.

However, don't be lazy and hike the mountain instead of taking the cable car. According to the signs it takes around 2h20min (but if you are fit, you can do it faster). It starts at the station of the funicular and goes through the forest.

First day: Fly in the sky

Today is the day to go beyond your fear!! And to go skydiving ou parapente. The scenery is breathtaking, and the staff is super friendly and professional so don't be afraid and just jump into a new adventure. And the view is so worth it!! In front of you, the Jungfrau, Lake Brienz on the left, Lake Thun right, the mountains behind, and Interlaken city below ... just sensational!

Second day: Chill on the water

Go caiaque on the lake. The water is crystalline and calm. The reflection of the mountains on the lake is truly breathtaking. You will be given good combinations so even if you fall, you will not be wet and it will keep you dry and warm. Did you know you can drink directly from the lake?

Otherwise, if you are more into adrenaline, we suggest you go canyoning. It is so exhilarating swinging from rocks, sliding down waterfalls, and jumping into the water from high rocks.

Third and last day: relaxing

After all this craziness, it is time to relax to laugh, and have some fun. Book a photoshoot at Heidi photo chalet. Let's take some pictures of you and your friend dressed up in traditional Swiss costumes in front of a green screen. The green screen allows you to choose the background of your choice. If you wish Heidi or Peter can join you to make an unforgettable Swiss memory.

And let's finish this day in style by doing a pub crawl. Every Saturday, party, get a drink with new friends, and explore Interlaken’s nightlife as a local.
