On a more personal note: getting a negative review, especially when it’s rooted in a lack of communication, can be really disheartening. Il nostro team è sempre presente e disponibile per una chiacchierata di persona e puoi anche contattarci tramite e-mail, telefono o WhatsApp se qualcosa non va durante il tuo soggiorno. Preferiremmo di gran lunga provare a sistemare le cose in tempo reale piuttosto che leggerle più tardi quando è troppo tardi per aiutare.
Tutti qui a Balmers si preoccupano sinceramente di ciò che facciamo. Vogliamo che il tempo trascorso con noi diventi parte del tipo di ricordi "buoni, migliori, sorprendenti" che porterai a casa.

Cos'è Balmers Hostel?
Balmers Hostel è il più antico ostello di proprietà privata della Svizzera, ambientato in tre affascinanti chalet svizzeri circondati da cime delle montagne in attesa di essere esplorate. È un luogo rilassato e sociale in cui i viaggiatori possono connettersi, rilassarsi e godersi un'atmosfera giocosa e unica nel suo genere.
Oh, e prima di dimenticare, organizziamo una festa o due, specialmente in alta stagione.
Per chi è Balmers Hostel?
Balmers Hostel è per viaggiatori dalla mentalità aperta e alla mano, dai 18 anni in su, che cercano qualcosa di più di un semplice posto dove dormire. Che tu sia qui per esplorare le Alpi svizzere, incontrare persone che la pensano allo stesso modo da tutto il mondo o semplicemente rilassarti e goderti l'atmosfera, Balmers è la tua casa lontano da casa. Diamo il benvenuto a viaggiatori singoli, gruppi fino a 10 persone e chiunque abbia un senso di avventura e rispetto per gli altri.

This town in Switzerland has 72 waterfalls🤯
Welcome to Lauterbrunnen, Switzerland 🇨🇭
A village of about 2,500 people sitting at the bottom of one of the most dramatic valleys in the Alps. Sheer 300-meter cliffs on both sides, 72 waterfalls, and a backdrop of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. It’s genuinely one of most memorable places I’ve been too🙌
🚆 Getting there
Train is the best way to reach Lauterbrunnen. Switzerland’s rail network connects directly to the village, and the Swiss Travel Pass covers trains, buses, and cable cars in the area
🥾 What to do
Hike the Männlichen to Kleine Scheidegg ridge for straight-on views of the Eiger north face. Take the cogwheel train up to Jungfraujoch, the highest railway station in Europe at 3,454m. Walk to Trümmelbach Falls, a series of glacial waterfalls carved inside the mountain itself. And walk through the valley. The waterfalls spill off the cliffs above you at almost every turn

May through October. The falls are fullest in late spring (June) when snowmelt is heavy

• Summer to early autumn (usually June–October) is the operating season, since snow closes the line in winter

The colour of the Aare River never quite looks real.

Interlaken was hands down one of the most beautiful places I’ve been! We explored, we ate, we jumped out of planes, we consumed lots of chocolate & fondue!!! Bigggg shoutout to Eric, my Skydive buddy, the man who drove our horse & buggy, The Balmers, every breakfast spot we tried, and my best friends for such a great weekend!!!! We WILL be back for another retreat!!!

A winter hike that feels straight out of a postcard.

• 9 km round trip
• 500 m elevation gain
• Snowshoes or crampons, depending on snow and ice conditions
In winter, the famous panoramic trail is closed
(reopening June 2026).

Fun fact about **Balmers Hostel**:
It all started back in **1907**, when Frida and Adolf Balmer opened a small *Touristenheim* for travellers. By the 1950s, they were already hosting British school groups, so you could say the hostel spirit here has been going strong for quite some time.
In the 70s, the second generation expanded it from a modest 50 beds to one of the most iconic hostels in Switzerland.
Today, the third generation is still running the show.
So yes… when you stay at Balmers, you’re not just booking a bed, you’re joining over a century of travellers passing through Interlaken.
