Traveling around Interlaken, where to stay?

Day 1: Arrive in Interlaken, Stay at Balmers

This short trip starts in Interlaken. The capital of adrenaline sport is nested in the Swiss Alps, between two crystal clear lakes.

We propose you to stay at Balmer Hostel, the oldest hostel in Switzerland. Founded in 1907, it is still managed by the same family. Today the management and ownership of the hostel lie with the 3rd generation, daughters Fabienne and Carmen Balmer. They continue to manage the hostel for the ever-evolving travel industry while continuing to provide friendly, clean, Swiss Quality accommodation.

A ton of activités is available in Interlaken. Depending on the weather and the season, you can go paragliding, rafting, hiking, skiing, kayaking, and much more.

Day 2: Gimmelwald, stay at Mountain Hostel

The next day, take the train to Lauterbrunnen. There you can hike through the Waterfall valley to Gimmelwald. Gimmelwald is a tiny car-free village in the Bernese Oberland. It is located between Stechelberg and Mürren, at an elevation of 1363 meters. The village is at the foot of the UNESCO World Heritage site, the de Jungfrau.

We suggest you to stay at Mountain Hostel Gimmelwald. This hostel is located in one of the most beautiful places in the world! It is warm and cozy and perfect for those who share a love for nature and the great outdoors.

The Mountain Hostel reflects the village of Gimmelwald where we are located, it's a simple, rustic, and a friendly
place for travelers and locals alike to rest weary feet after long days out on the alps or just a social, low key home away from home.

Day 3: Iseltwald and stay at Iseltwald Lodge

On the third day, you can hike from Gimmelwald via Mürren back to Lauterbrunnen. You just have to follow those yellow hiking signs pointing you in the right direction.

Then take the train or the bus to Iseltwald and stay at Iseltwald Lodge. This hostel is set in a traditional Swiss chalet and is located on the edge of Lake Brienz. The best is that it offers a free private beach and a big garden with hammocks and a lounge area with panoramic views of the Alps. You can also rent kayaks and go exploring the lake.

Day 4: Interlaken, stay a night at Balmers Tent Village

For this last day, let's walk from Iseltwald lodge along the lake to Interlaken and stay another night at Balmers but this time, if it is summertime, you should definitely try a night at Village de tentes Balmers.

The Tent Village offers relaxed style accommodation/camping with private doubles, quad, and dormitory walk-in tents. From this place, you can enjoy a fantastic view of the Swiss Alps sitting in the jacuzzi, a hammock, at the bar, in the pool, or simply stretched out on the grass. We offer a very informal and chilled atmosphere and is best suited for those who love nature and outdoor life.

Enjoy your trip around Interlaken
