Interlaken sous la neige, que faire ?
"Oh, the weather outside is frightful,
Mais le feu est si délicieux.
And since we've got no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!"
What! Wait! Stop! No place to go? Who am I kidding? We are in Interlaken and there is no way you will stay inside next to the fireplace on a snowy day.
Laissez-moi vous présenter la journée enneigée parfaite dans les Alpes suisses.
First of all, you should start your day with an amazing breakfast, because you will surely need it. Snow season is the coldest and you will be happy to have this extra energy to keep you warm.
Balmers Hostel in Interlaken is perfectly located between 3 winter sports resorts. There are plenty of choices here, with the most convenient one being the de Jungfrau ski resort which is divided into 3 smaller resorts (Grindelwald - First, Grindelwald - Wengen, and Mürren - Schilthorn). Combined they cover more than 200 kilometres of slopes! Enough for weeks to discover all of them. We are only 30 mins minutes away from the valley stations of Wengen, Grindelwald, and Mürren. So to all professional skiers, beginners or non-skiers, Interlaken is an ideal base to spend your winter holidays.
Ski et snowboard
If you want to ride the puff, go to the reception and book your day on the slope. You can rent your material next door (if possible do it the day before hitting the slopes so you can catch an early train) and store it in our ski storage room. If you’d like a bit more guidance - there are options for you to book group or private lessons with a nice (probably handsome) teacher who will guide you during a fun day in the snow.

Transport
The public transport to the ski areas is included in the Jungfrau Ski pass (covering all 3 ski areas mentioned above) as well as in your Hiking and Sledding pass which you can buy with us at the reception desk. The bus stop just across the road will take you to the next train station and from there you can just hop on a train and enjoy a beautiful train ride to the ski areas. Might sound confusing but we have maps on hand to show you everything you need to know and we are happy to help you with your planning.
Luge et raquettes
Another great activity to experiment with during your stay on a snowy day in Interlaken is to discover the quiet and peaceful side of the Swiss Alps by going on a raquettefaire de la randonnée et terminer votre journée avec quelques la luge de nuit. As we want you to have the best time and try to live a real Swiss experience, there is even a forfaitl where you will discover the beauty of a snowy forest equipped with snowshoe, then warm yourself up with a good Glühwein, plus a traditional Swiss cheese fondue in a lovely restaurant and finally end up this amazing half-day with a 45 minutes sled ride down the mountain. O,h what a fun!
Fall, Fly, or Jump
You are more of an adrenaline kind of gal? No worries, these extreme activities in Interlaken are available during winter time.
Tu peux y aller faire du parapente, sauter en parachute, bungee jumping, and even do a vol panoramique ou un atterrissage sur glacier pendant cette saison froide. La vue sera plus qu'incroyable et sur un journée ensoleillée you will have an extraordinary moment.
