Justo enfrente del Balmers Hostel, el Barracuda cafetería y bar is the place to meet seasonal workers and local guides. This is a cheap place to have a good sandwich during your day. Pssst, they also do take away.

They even offer a fondue cooking class to learn how to make a real Swiss fondue and also offer picnic basket for you to have an outdoor fondue.

#7. Supermarket restaurants
Coop supermarket is usually a good and cheap restaurant. It is a reliable place for lunch and a good value for Switzerland! The Coop Interlaken is situated right outside the train station so very convenient either before or after a day out. There is a beautiful buffet with lots of vegetarian options.
The Migros is more cafeteria style but trust me you will save a bundle on food. Food is not cheap in Switzerland and 20% is tacked on to every bill if you sit down. Not so here. It is at the west end of town and it is also where the locals eat!! Really good food, desserts and of course coffee.
