DISCOVER OESCHINENSEE
Oeschinensee Lake is easily one of the most scenic lakes around Interlaken. Set at 1,578 meters above sea level, this alpine lake is surrounded by towering mountains that stay snow-capped year-round, creating lovely small waterfalls as the snow melts in the warmer months.
A day trip to Oeschinensee is ideal, not just for its proximity to Interlaken but for the variety of activities you can enjoy. Grab a bite at one of the lakeside restaurants, fire up one of the BBQs with stunning lake views, or, if you’re feeling brave, take a swim in the summer, the water stays refreshingly cold all year around. You can also rent a rowboat to explore the lake up close or take a scenic hike around the lake to enjoy panoramic views. During the peak of winter, it’s a fantastic place to lace up your skates and glide across the frozen lake.

For those who love a bit of adventure, the hike from Kandersteg to the lake takes about 1.5 hours over 4 km. It’s a short hike, but don’t underestimate it! The steep parts pack a punch. It can get busy in summer, but the wide path makes it easy to navigate. (Check out the trail here)
