Located at the foot of the Schilthorn, Mürren is a peaceful mountain village. This small mountain village situated in the commune of Lauterbrunnen and belongs to the canton of Bern has a lot of charm. It attracts tourists from all over the world both in spring and Summer and in the winter season. To reach this village, you have to take a spectacular funicular. Located on a terrace at 1,650 m above sea level and facing (slightly dominating it) the village of Wengen, Mürren is a charming car-free resort enjoying a panorama of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. Walking through its streets is something sensational, the old wooden houses make you go back in time.

1. Explore the charming village of Mürren
Mürren is a truly unique destination that offers the perfect combination of natural beauty, a peaceful atmosphere, and exciting activities. It is the ideal place for a relaxing and regenerating getaway. The village offers spectacular views across the valley. Mürren has its charm and tranquility giving you access to beautiful villages like Gimmelwald, Allmendhubel, and Stechelberg.
2. Go up the Schilthorn - Piz Gloria
To reach the Schilthorn, you have to take 2 cable cars. The first station is Birg, at 2677 meters above sea level. Then after a second ride, you will reach the famous Schilthorn and the restaurant Piz Gloria.
The Piz Gloria revolving restaurant was used for the James Bond film 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'. The round mountain restaurant has the particularity of rotating and offering a panoramic view of the magnificent mountain landscape within a short hour. A panoramic terrace adjoins the restaurant and offers a direct view of the Swiss Skyline and more than two hundred peaks.
3. Birg - Thrill Walk and hike to Grauseewli Lake
On the way up or down to Schilthorn stop at the middle station called Birg to do the Thrill Walk and hike to Grauseewli Lake (just 30 minutes each way).
Birg not only offers a beautiful panoramic sun terrace at Bistro Birg but also two other attractions: the Skyline Walk and the Thrill Walk. The Skyline Walk leads to a platform that shows the entire mountain panorama of the Bernese Alps. Part of the floor is inserted as a glass floor with a vertical view of the mountains. The Thrill Walk is a two-hundred-meter-long rock walkway installed under the middle station. Next to it, there are short courses with a glass floor or steel nets which should increase the thrill even more. But the absolute highest point is at the upper station, 2970 meters above sea level.
To reach Grauseeli Lake, the way goes down steeply, so the knees are heavily involved. The views are beautiful and the free-grazing sheep add a bucolic touch. So many reasons to take your time and savor the moment.
4. Hiking

The hiking area amid the 4000-meter peaks Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau is particularly spectacular.
Around Mürren there are many great hikes such as the Mountain View Trail (2 hours) and one of the most popular ones is the Northface Trail. It starts and ends directly at the Schilthorn cable car station and is well-marked with blue signs. (6.5 kilometers in about 2.5 hours, with 390 meters of elevation gain). Other marked hiking trails pass by numerous waterfalls and Nepal's 80-meter-long bridge stretches over an almost endless precipice near Gimmelwald.

5. Via Ferrata
The Mürren via Ferrata also attracts climbing enthusiasts from afar.
You can also reach the Nepal Bridge near Gimmelwald via a via ferrata. Once you have started, you have to go until the end. A few adrenaline rushes are inevitable and it is impossible to turn back. But you will be rewarded with unique views and experiences and if you don't want to hike it unaccompanied, you can also book a mountain guide. The path starts behind the sports chalet in Mürren, below the post office building. A large poster marks the entrance. If you come without climbing equipment, you can rent one in Mürren in the sports shops.

6. Go skiing
Mürren is very well served by several ski lifts. The ski area is the highest in the Obernois. Skiers and snowboarders have at their disposal 54 km of slopes and 3 km of routes. 16 lifts transport visitors. The winter sports resort is located between 796 and 2,970 m above sea level.
