I stayed here for two nights in a private room & had a great experience. The place was very clean and the entire set up is really cool. You can be as social or as private as you choose. Would definitely stay again.

Solo female traveler !
For the 1st time I socialized with the people here, very cozy atmosphere, super friendly & helpfull staff, amazing cleaning crew, the kitchen is super huge & it was sparkling clean all the time despite so many residents. I loved every second of it. Bathroom/showers so many & super clean. Thanks for such a memorable stay! I will be back & bring my friends ;)
The pictures don't show how perfect this hostel is🥰

Great hostel full of plenty of things to do. They also provide a type of bus far accommodation to get around the city. They have activities that are planned every day I believe that are really enjoyable.
The rooms are set up good. Each bed has its own dedicated light and charger socket for usb. The beds are as comfy as they are going to get. Each room gets its own fan. The pillows are a tad bit on the small side, but not a huge deal.
Plenty of kitchen and fridge space for all of your meals and food. They have a bar that’s open nightly in the back and a nightclub downstairs for the guests three nights a week.
Plenty of showers and toilets. Consistent hot water at all times. The cleaning staff do a great job every day to keep the hostel looking amazing.
This is my second time staying here in the last 12 months from the United States. I will only ever stay here at Balmers while I am in Interlaken.
I recommend La Tapberne for a restaurant that has great food and couple doors down.
Only issue I had here was two older ladies who moved a roommate’s stuff during the day so one of them could sleep on the bottom bunk. But this isn’t an issue with the hostel itself.

There are public parking spaces nearby and good shopping opportunities, a good pizzeria next door, very friendly staff and a very nice daily program, barbecue, music,...

I think this is a perfect place for small groups or solo travelers. I am in my 20’s and was able to make friends. They had planned activities so you can meet people, but I ended up doing my own thing as well. Kitchen was pretty well kept as well as shared spaces. I’d highly recommend staying here!

🏡Balmers Hostel🪴
The hostel was built a hundred years ago, and there is even a small museum about the history of the hostel. The staff were nice, there were group activities to join, and the experience here was great.
Note: For people who need accessibility, there is no elevator.

Balmers is always worth a visit. The reception is super friendly and they help you with questions and concerns. There is a lot of space in the communal kitchen and it is really well equipped. Only the spices and salt were all gone, but there is a Coop around the corner. We were together in a private room for 8 people. The rooms were well equipped. There are cooling strips for various USB ports. There are also boxes in the room to lock up your personal belongings. Outside in the garden and in the communal rooms there is more than enough space to linger and spend time. We will be back :)

I’m a woman in my 40s and this is the first time I stay in a hostel. I was very concerned about staying at Balmers because I thought it would be super noisy and full of unruly young guests. I opted for the 6 women bedroom, and had a wonderful time. I met amazing people, mostly younger than me, but that did not stop us from hanging out and having fun. I spent 12 nights at the facility, met people from all over the world, and had a wonderful time. My bedroom was located at the front of the build, so I had no issue with the nightclub noise. The employees made sure that guests who were having fun outside were not loud at night so that others could sleep. I brought my earplugs and eye covers to make sure I’d sleep well. Central perfect location (15 minutes pleasant walk to train station). Nice restaurants and grocery stores close by. $16 to wash clothes on the side building. They have hair dryers for guests at the front office free of charge. Showers are clean and have liquid soap. Fully equipped kitchen. I only ran out of hot water once in 12 days. Amazing and friendly cleaning staff. I’d definitely recommend this place. The nightclub was bad and most people wouldn’t go (including younger ones). I’d suggest having karaoke nights instead of it as it’s much more fun. Thanks again! 🙂

absolutely fantastic hostel. clean, social, so much to do, great staff, great people, great location. hammock room is an awesome bonus. One complaint is that reception is not open 24/7 (far from it). I know a lot of people want to work at Balmers, and at an international hostel it does not make sense not to have reception always open. This became a problem for me on multiple occasions

Had a lovely time at this hostel, they have clearly prioritized the vibe, comfort, and cleanliness of their business. Some hostels are more like a motel but this one felt fun yet clean and comfortable. The hangout areas are so welcoming and homey. I like how the bathrooms and showers are scattered throughout so you can just use whichever is available. Staff was friendly and helpful, would highly recommend this place for anyone
